Black Bear in Swamp – Canvas Print (Jury Selected Piece)

$400.00

Where the Atchafalaya Breathes – Original oil painting sold.  The price is for a gallery wrapped canvas print.  (Jury selected for participation in the Kit Gilbert Juried Showcase) – There is a sacred beauty in watching the bear reclaim its place among the waterways and winding forests of the Atchafalaya. The wetlands hold its story gently — not a tale of disappearance, but of resilience, protection, and the long patience of a species waiting for its future to brighten. Conservationists, communities, and the land itself worked together to ensure the bear’s voice would not fade from Louisiana’s wild chorus. Today, its presence feels like a blessing woven into the Basin’s tapestry of life, a reminder that when people honor the wild, the wild remembers how to thrive.

Description

In the deep quiet of the Atchafalaya Basin, the Louisiana Black Bear moves with the steady confidence of a survivor — a creature that was never lost, only pushed toward the edge of uncertainty. Its return to strength is written in the soft mud along the bayou, in the shadows beneath ancient cypress knees, in the quiet rustle of palmetto where generations once thinned. When the bear was lifted from the threatened list in 2016, the Basin seemed to exhale, as though the land itself recognized the significance of that moment. Each step the bear takes now feels like a promise kept, a living testament to what careful stewardship can restore.

Where the Mountains Hide Their Faces - There is a solemn beauty in the way the wilderness holds its secrets. Leviathan’s Cove – Canvas Prints Available

$150.00
Leviathan’s Cove is the hidden chamber of the swamp — a place where the water thickens, the air hushes, and the cypress roots rise like ancient ribs around a creature older than memory. Here lives the alligator of Leviathan’s Gaze, not as a monster, but as the quiet sovereign of the wetlands. He is the stillness that watches. The patience beneath the lily pads. The slow, tidal breath that reminds us the swamp is not empty but inhabited by a presence that has shaped this place long before our footsteps arrived. Oil painting turtle sea wildlife art (jury selected)

$1,200.00
Where Hope is Buried - jury selected piece, recognized for its evocative storytelling and conservation-centered theme. A mother sea turtle returns to the water in the fading gold of day, her silhouette softened by the last warmth of the sun. Behind her, beneath the sand she has shaped with ancient care, rests a hidden cradle of tomorrow. She leaves no marker, no sign—only trust in the rhythm that has guided her kind for millions of years. In her slow retreat, there is both exhaustion and triumph. Every step toward the waves is a testament to endurance, to instinct older than memory, to a lineage fighting to survive in a world that grows harsher each season. All sea turtles are endangered, yet she moves with the quiet certainty of one who still believes in the possibility of return—of hatchlings rising from the sand, of small lives finding the ocean’s embrace. Specs: 24" by 18", 1.5" deep, gallery wrap style, painted sides. Signed Canvas or Paper Prints Available, Contact Artist for more information. mary@maryspaintings.com

Stillness Under the Driftwood – Framed Canvas Print

$300.00
Stillness Under the Driftwood - Tucked beneath the shelter of a fallen log, a young raccoon pauses in the quiet rhythm of the forest. Smooth river stones, worn by time and water, gather around its hiding place like a natural mosaic of soft grays, rose‑tinted browns, and cool earth tones. Light filters gently across the scene, catching the subtle textures of fur, wood, and stone, inviting the viewer into a moment of stillness at the water’s edge. This painting celebrates the intimate, often unseen world of Louisiana’s woodland wildlife—where curiosity, caution, and beauty meet in a single breath. It is 18 x 24, 1  depth, framed in a matching copper colored frame. Signed Canvas or Paper Prints Available, Contact Artist for more information. mary@maryspaintings.com
