Christmas Chicadees – Framed Canvas Print

Original oil painting triptych sold.  The price shown is for a triptych print set on canvas (three separate framed prints). -  The first whooping crane hatchling born in Louisiana since 1938 is more than a milestone; it is a breath restored to a story that nearly ended. In this triptych, the cranes move through light and marshland like living prayers, each panel holding a chapter of a species’ long journey back from silence. The tiny hatchling—once front‑page news, once unthinkable—becomes the heart of the piece, a symbol of resilience so delicate it feels almost holy. This painting doesn’t just honor the moment; it preserves the hope that rose from the marsh after seventy-eight years, reminding us that even the rarest lives can return when land, patience, and love make room for them. Original oil painting sold.  The price shown is for a framed print on canvas.  -  This is a jury selected piece.  On the eve of the catastrophic August 2016 flood, the wetlands held their breath beneath a sky splitting open with fire and shadow. Pelicans carved through the heavy air as cypress sentinels braced against the quickly approaching storm, and the last light flared defiantly across Lake Arthur’s darkening water. This painting captures that charged, unforgettable moment—beauty standing its ground before the storm reshaped South Louisiana. It is 40 x 30, .75 depth, framed in simple wood, stretched canvas print, if you prefer a 1.5" gallery wrapped style, contact artist.  Any version or any size, 40 x 30 or smaller is available.  Pricing will vary for smaller versions.  Contact artist for special orders. Stillness Under the Driftwood - Tucked beneath the shelter of a fallen log, a young raccoon pauses in the quiet rhythm of the forest. Smooth river stones, worn by time and water, gather around its hiding place like a natural mosaic of soft grays, rose‑tinted browns, and cool earth tones. Light filters gently across the scene, catching the subtle textures of fur, wood, and stone, inviting the viewer into a moment of stillness at the water’s edge. This painting celebrates the intimate, often unseen world of Louisiana’s woodland wildlife—where curiosity, caution, and beauty meet in a single breath. It is 18 x 24, 1  depth, framed in a matching copper colored frame. Signed Canvas or Paper Prints Available, Contact Artist for more information. mary@maryspaintings.com

There is a sense of watchfulness woven through this scene, a gentle tension between the hush of winter and the bright intelligence of the jay. Its vivid blues rise like a small flame against the pale air, offering a reminder that even in the quietest months, life continues with purpose. The pine branch becomes a stage for resilience, the snow a soft veil over the forest’s secrets. In this painting, the bird is not merely observed — it is honored, a sentinel of the woods who carries the stories that winter keeps close. Price is for a 14" by 14" canvas print in a floating frame. mary@maryspaintings.com
